A project linked to the neighbouring Waterfront Tavern and which plays to concepts of both synergy and certain juxtaposition.

Informing the Shell Cove Marina development to the south of Sydney, the Marina Services Building is a robust, concrete-led and ‘heavy-set’ offer that neatly blends into its waterside position – ‘sinking’ into its environment via intelligent design that extends the public park across its roofline.

The integration means aspects that are ‘hidden’ from view and the maintenance of the waterline – results that embolden the overall area and its accessibility.

Necessary functionality is present in housing the council’s marina services office, the materiality and what is, ultimately, a mass of concrete, further playing to position with the crafting of a building that calmy does what is required of it and will continue to do so across the coming decades.
