There’s always a firm sense of excitement aligned to working on a conversion such as this – an opportunity to transform a raw space into something new and dynamic.

It’s about open spatial layouts that allow creativity to inform innovative design – the results of the Annandale warehouse ultimately highlighting H&E’s exemplary design and focus on finish, so too the importance of the relationship between designer and client. This warehouse was eight years in the making – from finding the site to completing the finishes; a period cloaked by close and extensive engagement between both parties.

Situated on a large corner block, old buildings were completely gutted and transformed to accommodate the four-bedroom home – a multi-level conversion designed to retain as much of the original brick, steel and timber fabric as possible.

H&E employed a considerable and adaptive approach to the reuse of demolished materials and timbers from the site, as well as the retention of industrial beams and metal girders within the project – the result being a truly unique stronghold of luxury and inner-calm on the bustling fringes of the city.
